Generals served as witnesses in the Lussati case did not appear in court. Hearing suspended

The Luanda District Court decided to suspend the hearing scheduled for this Tuesday, within the scope of the Lussati case, after the generals who were notified as witnesses and deponents did not appear in court.

:

According to Novo Jornal, a few weeks ago, the Luanda District Court asked the Supreme Court to notify witnesses and deponents, most of whom are generals related to the Security House of the President of the Republic, to make statements.

This request was renewed again, with the Luanda District Court asking the Supreme Court for a notification for the generals to appear in court next week, namely on Monday, 26 September.

The list of witnesses and deponents, according to Novo Jornal, includes generals Hélder Vieira Dias Júnior "Kopelipa", Sequeira João Lourenço, Alfredo Tyaunda, Eusébio de Brito Teixeira, João Chindande, Inocêncio Yoba, Luís Simão Ernesto and José João "Maua".

According to a court source, quoted by Novo Jornal, generals "Kopelipa" and Sequeira João Lourenço will give statements as deponents.

The trial will continue this Wednesday. The Luanda District Court decided to schedule a new trial session for 21 September (Wednesday), with deponents who do not have special status – unlike the generals scheduled for this Tuesday, who do.

It should be noted that the court concluded last week the hearing of the defendants involved in the case.

It is recalled that the process has listed 49 defendants - with Major Pedro Lussati, assigned to the Military House of the Presidency of the Republic, being the central figure - who are accused of embezzlement, criminal association, undue receipt of advantage, economic participation in business , abuse of power, fraud in the transport or transfer of currency abroad, illicit introduction of foreign currency into the country, illegal currency trade, prohibition of cash payments, withholding of currency, falsification of documents, money laundering and false assumption identity.
