Detainees suspected of kidnapping two Chinese citizens and an Angolan

Those involved, aged between 30 and 36, abducted on the public road, on the morning of 27 August, in the municipality of Belas, Zona Verde district, the Chinese couple, aged 53 and 51, as well as their translator , 31, Angolan citizen, who was held for 20 hours in private prison.

After the abduction, the accused demanded from the relatives of the victims who are in China a ransom that should be transferred to the account of the wife of one of the alleged perpetrators who is in the Asian country. Later, they asked for transfers to an Angolan account.

While waiting for the required bank movements, the accused, in order to put pressure on the relatives, sent photos of the abducted "handcuffed, tied up, savagely tortured, with very visible bruises".

The note emphasizes that with psychological pressure, family members made the transfer equivalent to one million dollars and one of the detainees made a transfer of almost four thousand euros to an Angolan account.

The director of the Institutional Communication and Press Office of the Luanda provincial delegation of SIC, Fernando de Carvalho, told Lusa that the money in kwanzas is held captive. The suspects, of Chinese nationality, are accused of the crimes of kidnapping, physical assault and imprisonment.
