The communiqué from the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), which marks the National Hero's Day, a holiday that commemorates the birth of Agostinho Neto, the first President after Angola's independence, underlines that the nationalist's political and strategic thinking doctor remains "present and updated" serving as an inspiration for present and future generations.

In the same document, the Political Bureau of the MPLA urges Angolans "to patriotically honor the memory of the Heroes of Freedom" and "uncompromisingly defend Peace, Democracy and Unity and National Reconciliation".

The party organ also encourages President João Lourenço to proceed with policy measures aimed at diversifying the national economy, increasing domestic production of goods and services, diversifying revenue sources and strengthening the Angolan business fabric, as well as in the way of satisfying the basic needs of the population.

"Finally, the Political Bureau of the MPLA invites all the living forces of the Nation to continue supporting President João Lourenço in the fight against corruption, impunity, misappropriation of public goods and waste", concludes the note.
