Karate School in Benguela tries to take away covid-19 and teaches modality via Skype

To get around covid-19 and allow its students to continue learning and training, the 'Dojo Festo Isaac' (DFI) Karate school, located in Benguela (Lobito), decided to teach this martial art via Skype. The virtual classes are scheduled to begin next month.

It is certain that this initiative may leave out some students who do not have access to technological means or the Internet. However, the school principal, Festo Isaac, assured that 90 percent of the students are able to embark on this project.

Festo Isaac explained, in a statement to Angop, that this decision is intended to help students maintain the pace of training they have been used to for about 12 years.

The school teaches the 'Shotokan' style of the Japan Karate Association to about 45 students (since the age of three) and is affiliated to the Provincial Association of the sport, he said.

This sport is capable of "shaping the conduct of children and adults, in the sense of being educated people with exemplary behavior before society," he said.

However, the director complains about the obstacles that the school has faced in order to find support and thus be able to stand.

For several years the school has participated in national tournaments, which are usually held in the pavilion of the Casa do Pessoal do Porto do Lobito.
