FPSO Great Plutonium produced 600 million barrels of oil

The Floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) Large Plutonium, operated by BP in partnership with Sinopec, has already produced 600 million barrels of oil.

"Located in Block 18 and operated by BP in partnership with Sinopec, the FPSO Great Plutonium has just exceeded the figure of 600 million barrels of oil produced", indicates the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), in a statement sent to VerAngola.

The block has been in operation for 13 years and although the covid-19 pandemic has posed "new and difficult challenges for operators, BP guarantees that it has managed to maintain the levels of operational efficiency projected for the first half of 2020".

The note highlights that for "future production and profitability levels to be maintained, BP has been focusing on improving the performance of the water injection system - which will ensure greater stability in future production - as well as continuously reducing gas flaring, a decision that had already allowed the FPSO Greater Plutonium to win the inaugural BP (Helios) low carbon emissions award in 2019".

The vice-president of BP Angola, Adriano Bastos, says that to achieve results like this "it is essential to continue to invest in teamwork" and in training the work developed in Angola.

"This bet will be all the more successful if it is made together with the national concessionaire ANPG, with Sinope Angola, which is our partner in this block and with all the companies that provide us service," he stressed.

The responsible also admitted that the commitment and collaboration of all, is what adds value to the work. "I am confident that the resilience of our team in Angola will continue to add value for the country and for BP," he added.

The president of ANPG, Paulino Jerónimo, cited in the document, considered that it is with everyone's contribution that "the Angolan oil sector and the companies that work in it, both as operators and as service providers, will come to the end of this pandemic crisis more strengthened and with results that will allow it to face the future with confidence.
