Saudi Arabia grants 110 million to Angola to finance project for the industrial city of Catumbela

Saudi Arabia is to grant a loan of 110 million dollars to Angola to finance the project for the industrial city of Catumbela. The information was provided by Ahmed Bin Abbulazizi Kattan, adviser to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia, who was received this Wednesday, in audience, by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, at the Presidential Palace.

"I also had the opportunity to inform you that the Government of Saudi Arabia took the decision to grant a loan of 110 million dollars to the Angolan Government, in order to carry out a project in one of the provinces of this country. This is the project for the Industrial City of Catumbela", he said, quoted in a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access.

Speaking at the end of the meeting, Ahmed Bin Abbulazizi Kattan also took the opportunity to announce that his country's government will open an embassy in Angola.

"I informed the President that the Guardian of the Sacred Places, the King of Saudi Arabia, instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to open an embassy in the Republic of Angola as soon as possible", he said, quoted in the statement.

Among other aspects, the "special envoy conveyed the greetings of the King of Saudi Arabia and the Crown Prince to President João Lourenço", having also highlighted "the importance of mutual cooperation in various sectors", adds the note.

The adviser to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia also announced that Saudi Arabia will host, in November, the Saudi Arabia-Africa Summit and the Arab World-Africa Summit. "I also had the opportunity to thank His Excellency, the President of the Republic, and the Angolan Government for the support given to Saudi Arabia to host Expo-2030", he pointed out.
