Proposal to reduce VAT goes to discussion in parliament

The proposed law that amends the Value Added Tax (VAT) code will be discussed, in general terms, on the 14th of this month, after approval by the Government of the reduction from 14 percent to 7 percent in food goods.

The point is part of the work agenda proposed at the conference of leaders of the parliamentary groups, which met this Monday to prepare the plenary sessions of the 14th and 15th of this month, the latter referring to the solemn plenary meeting at the end of the parliamentary year 2022/2023.

The agenda also includes points referring to the appreciation of two legislative authorizations, including the Legislative Authorization Bill, which authorizes the President of the Republic, as holder of executive power, to legislate on the Incentives to be attributed to the Concession Area of Block 20/11.

The plenary will discuss and vote on the legislative authorization bill, which authorizes the President of the Republic, as holder of executive power, to make that decision.

The proposal on the Statute of Former Presidents of the Republic goes to the final global vote.

In the area of justice, the Proposal for a Law amending the Organic Law of the Courts of Appeal will be discussed and voted on.

The Draft Resolution on the Activities Report of the National Electoral Commission, referring to the year 2022 and the Draft Resolution on the Report of Activities of the Ombudsman, referring to last year, will also be discussed and voted on in the next plenary session of the National Assembly.
