The partnership was made official this Wednesday (August 2) with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
This memorandum, according to a note from EMIS, to which VerAngola had access, "marks the assumption of a partnership between EMIS and Mastercard, which aims to allow the issuance of multibrand debit payment cards, Multicaixa/Mastercard, for use in domestic Angola and abroad".
The said partnership will enable the "coexistence of two brands" on a single payment card, "issued by Angolan commercial banks", meaning that whenever this card is used in the country it will be considered a 'Multicaixa debit card', and when used abroad will be considered a 'Mastercard debit card', "all operations always being linked to the holder's payment account", informs EMIS.
"In this way, the multi-brand card allows transactions (payments and withdrawals in cash) either in the national territory or abroad, thus having the advantage of being universally accepted, which provides its holder who is abroad with an instrument of payment for more convenient use", reads the statement.
