The event was opened by the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Eugénio Alves da Silva, who highlighted the importance of this competition in the training and development of young university students.

The spokesperson for the GMC, Fernando Assunção, stated that the competition "gives the opportunity to university students and professionals from different areas to demonstrate their technical skills in business management matters and to develop their cognitive skills, in terms of analysis and decision making".

The event had several interventions, with emphasis on the message from João Matosos Henriques, CEO of SDG, a company that created and manages, for over 40 years, the Global Management Challenge, present in 35 countries on five continents, and which has already involved more than 900,000 competitors.

The Global Management Challenge Competition involves teams from universities, companies and public and private institutions: the winning team will represent the country in the international final, in a country to be indicated, with the presence of the winning teams from the 35 participating countries, explains a statement sent to VerAngola.

There are four most important phases of the competition: 1 August to 30 September: registration of teams on the website www.gmc.ao; October 11: start of competition; December 12: final in person and December 14: awards gala in Luanda.

In the competition, the competitors, distributed in teams of five elements each, compete with each other, managing virtual companies as if they were real companies, through the use of a computer system (management simulator), which simulates the action/decision of each team in a competitive business environment, taking into account the competition and the economic context of a given market.

They interact with decision-making as if they were responsible for the main management areas of the company (Finance, Human Resources, Production, Marketing, Commercial/Sales), which allows them to gain a broader view of the problem of managing a company, as well as the impact and importance that its decisions have for the organization, adds the note.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in making strategic decisions at the management level, which impact their company, in a virtual market that simulates a real market, in which decisions influence the stock market value of the shares of the companies they represent: " very opportune, at a time when Angola is launching its first operations on the Stock Exchange - BAI, which is already underway, and soon Caixa Angola and ENSA".

The success of this competition is also associated with the involvement of its partners, namely sponsors, supporters, jury, media partners and the members of the teams that annually participate in this competition, with the aim of winning the title of Best National Team and thus being able to compete for the title. world.
