Shipwreck causes the death of two fishermen in Malanje province

A shipwreck caused the death of two of five fishermen in the province of Malanje, when they intended to cross the largest river in Angola, the Kwanza, reported this Monday the local Fire and Civil Protection Service.

The information advanced by the spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Fire Services, Júlia da Conceição, stating that the fishermen, who were being transported in a small boat, sank while trying to cross the river from one bank to another.

"In the municipality of Cacuso, precisely in the Pungo-a-Ndongo commune, in the reservoir of the Lauca Dam, there was a rescue as a result of the sinking of a small canoe, when a group of five fishermen decided to cross to the other side of the river. Two people died", said Júlia da Conceição, in statements broadcasted by the Angolan public radio.
