An investment was made in the port of Sacomar with a view to enabling the ship to dock and depart, thus making it possible to export this first shipment of iron, extracted from the Cutato mine in Cuando Cubango, he said.
The investment started in 2015, and the company currently employs 163 people, including direct and indirect positions, five of whom are expatriates.
Rui Silva, cited by Jornal de Angola, said that the factory was 95 percent completed, and estimated that as soon as it is completed and the iron mining levels increase it will be possible to employ more people, including local people and former combatants.
After the factory is finished, the official said that a process of transforming iron into a pig iron, which is the main raw material for producing steel and cast iron, should follow.
