Huambo wins wheat flour processing plant. Unit generated more than 100 jobs

The province of Huambo has gained a factory for processing wheat flour. Located in the Caála Industrial Complex, the factory generated more than 100 direct and indirect jobs and is already operating on an experimental basis.

The factory is capable of processing about 120 tons of flour per day. According to the promoter of the initiative, Felisberto Capamba, the unit will help to stimulate the production of wheat in the central and southern zones of the country, contributing to the reduction of import levels.

"The main objective is to transform wheat into flour and then supply other units within our production chain in this unit, which is the production of pasta and cookies," explained Felisberto Capamba.

Capamba, cited by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), said that Huambo and the neighboring provinces had unique characteristics for producing wheat. However, despite being favorable, wheat production is not practiced in the area due to the lack of an industry capable of processing the seed.

"We saw the opportunity, it is risky, but so we did, we set up a pilot farm, which today is very well equipped, which is the experimental base for wheat production and the replication of some seeds," he said.

Once the experimental phase is over, the official inauguration of the plant may take place within 60 days.

According to RNA, about four million dollars have been invested in the project, which will be implemented in stages. However, the overall value of the venture could reach around eight million dollars.
