According to Expansão, the Angolans were recognized from a list of 260 artists who were chosen from a universe of more than 500 African writers.
On their Facebook pages, the two writers thanked for the distinction. "I take this opportunity to say that this award is not only from Beni, but from all of Angola! I think the best way to thank is Gratitude!", wrote Beni Dya Mbaxi.
Angolans should receive the trophies next month, through the post office.
In question are the books "A Esperança Welwitchia" and "A Última Masoxi".
According to the same newspaper, the book "A Esperança Welwitchia" talks about cultural and patriotic symbols of the country, highlighting the Welwitchia plant, the Giant Sable Antelope and the Thinker. In turn, the book "The Last Masoxi" portrays the story of an 11-year-old girl who is sexually abused by her stepfather.
The event took place in the Western Cape town of Oudshorrn and was streamed online.
