AGT debates e-commerce challenges in Angola

The Ministry of Finance, through the General Tax Administration (AGT), is preparing to take stock of the electronic commerce regulation in Angola. The theme would be discussed in a 'webtertúlia' scheduled for this Friday.

With the theme "Challenges of Electronic Commerce in Angola", the event will take place on the platform "Microsoft Teams", and the registration is made upon request that must be sent by email to eventos.agt@minfin.gov.ao.

According to a statement sent to VerAngola, the meeting will be opened by the Director of the Center for Tax Studies (CET) of the General Tax Administration, Silveira Boloto, and will be attended by the Portuguese tax inspector Sérgio Vasques, who will present a set of proposals for taxation of electronic commerce.

Professor of Tax Law at the Catholic University of Portugal, consultant to the World Bank and former Secretary of State for Tax Affairs from 2009 to 2011 in Portugal, Vasques also worked as a consultant in African countries such as Cape Verde and Guinea Bissau.

The gathering will also count on the presence of the leader of BAYQI, Fátima de Almeida, one of the companies in the electronic commerce sector in Angola with more visibility.

The status of ‘Regulation of Electronic Commerce in Angola’, will be presented by Osvaldo Epipi, a member of the Legal and Exchange Office of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Tax obligations for e-commerce companies will also be debated. To be presented by Tiago Santos, Director of Tax Services at AGT, it emerges as a short and medium term challenge.

The meeting's agenda also includes an approach on the evolution of electronic commerce in the world, which will be made by jurist Altair Marta, Coordinator of Technical Opinions and International Treaties at the Center for Tax Studies at AGT.
