According to a government statement that VerAngola had access to, this investment will be used to expand the road fleet, purchase trucks, and logistics platforms.
"The national logistics sector will be strengthened with an investment of approximately 100 million dollars to expand the road fleet, purchase trucks, and logistics platforms, an initiative by Abu Dhabi Ports," the statement reads.
Speaking after a meeting between the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, and businesspeople from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), held this Thursday in Luanda, the manager stated that they are also developing other projects and intend to sign other agreements.
"We are also developing other projects and, following the visit of the UAE Head of State, we intend to sign other agreements," he stated, without providing dates.
"Joaquim Piedade detailed that these agreements will involve investments in the Angolan Maritime Port Academy, northern coastal shipping, and the airport sector, more specifically in Catumbela, Benguela province," the statement reads.
Furthermore, the official also indicated "investments in the health sector, in a joint venture initiative that will develop a set of hospital equipment in the country, as well as an emergency services network, as a result of this agreement."
"With a 250 million dollars investment to transform the Port of Luanda's multipurpose terminal into one of the largest in terms of operations and capacity in the SADC region, Abu Dhabi Ports began operating in Angola in January of this year," the statement reads.
Joaquim Piedade also reported that "the rehabilitation of the Port of Luanda's multipurpose terminal is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027."
