It was this Wednesday that the Angolan faced the Kazakh fighter in the ring, whose fight and victory were witnessed by the president of the Angolan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (FAMMA), Armando Diogo 'Scott'.
The federation, in a statement that VerAngola had access to, highlighted Pena's victory.
"The Angolan MMA Federation (FAMMA) congratulates the impressive victory of athlete Demarte Pena 'The Wolf', who stood out at the international event Warriors 61, held this Wednesday, July 23, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates," the statement read.
"This success was witnessed on-site by FAMMA president Armando Diogo 'Scott', who was accompanied by vice-president Nimi Pedro and the assistant coach of the national team, Óscar Assis, proudly representing Angola's institutional presence at the event," the federation added.
FAMMA also congratulates the athlete "for his exemplary performance and demonstrated competitive spirit, reiterating its commitment to the promotion, international recognition, and continued development of national MMA."
With this victory, according to Angop, Demarte Pena secured direct access to the UFC, considered the world's leading MMA organization.
Another notable achievement was Stelvia Muhanha's gold medal for Angola at the 2025 Youth MMA World Championship, taking place in the United Arab Emirates.
"The young athlete Stelvia Muhanha became world champion, winning the gold medal in the 40 kg youth B category, after a determined and tactical defeat of Ukrainians Bitaniha Hoshchuk and Anastasiia Bakun," FAMMA reported in another statement that VerAngola had access to.
