The accident occurred on Saturday night on the Chinguar/Menongue stretch, which connects the provinces of Bié and Cuando, on National Road 140. A truck carrying 34 people overturned while crossing a bridge.
According to Chief Superintendent António Hossi, spokesperson for the Bié Provincial Command of the National Police, quoted by Angop, the poor technical condition of the vehicle may have been responsible for the accident.
The National Police and the fire department are searching for missing people, and the injured are receiving treatment at health facilities in the municipality of Chinguar and Cuito, the capital of Bié.
This accident follows another recorded last week in Namibe province, which resulted in serious consequences, with 22 deaths and 28 injuries.
In the country, traffic accidents are the second leading cause of death after malaria.
