The National Conference to Prepare for the IMSAS 2025 Audit will take place on 7 and 8 July.
Held by the National Maritime Agency (AMN), under the coordination of the Ministry of Transport, the conference will take place in Luanda and will bring together government entities, international partners, legal experts, industry representatives and specialists from the maritime and port sector.
As part of the preparations for the audit of the International Maritime Organization Member State System (IMSAS), scheduled for November this year, the event will allow for the sharing of progress made by Angola, debate on legal and operational challenges and consolidation of strategies to ensure full compliance with mandatory IMO instruments.
The national and regional maritime legal framework, port security, among others, are some of the topics to be addressed at the event, which will be attended by representatives from Lloyd's Register, the Abuja Memorandum, universities, technical institutes, defence and security bodies, and environmental authorities.
The chairwoman of the Board of Directors of AMN, Anisabel Veríssimo e Costa, will be one of the speakers at the opening session.
The conference will also feature an interministerial panel on Angola's responsibilities as a coastal state, in which several ministries and local authorities will participate.
