Sonangol wins the Golden Lion at FILDA 2025, which had around 100,000 visitors

Sonangol was, for the second consecutive year, the big winner at the Angola International Fair (FILDA), which concluded last Sunday after six days filled with lectures, product and service launches, visits from distinguished figures, and approximately 100,000 attendees. The national oil company won the grand prize 'Golden Lion' at a gala held on Saturday.

In addition to this award, Sonangol announced that it also received an honorable mention and another Lion in the category for best participation.

"Sonangol won, for the second consecutive time, the grand prize 'Golden Lion' at the 40th edition of FILDA, having also received an honorable mention and another Lion in the category for best participation, as the company with the most editions over the years," reads a statement from the flagship oil company, that VerAngola had access to.

According to the company, "this award symbolizes not only recognition of the excellence of the state-owned oil company's brand, but also its ability to position itself at the forefront of energy transformation and economic development in Angola."

The trophies were presented to Dionísio Rocha, Director of Communications, Brand, and Social Responsibility, who, without hiding his emotion, considered FILDA a "school" for the company.

"FILDA was a school for us, allowing us to participate not only nationally but also internationally, successfully, as a result of the growth and maturity we've experienced throughout these initiatives," he stated.

Regarding the awards ceremony, prizes were awarded in 26 categories. According to Angop, the winners also included Elimy Metal (best participation in Commerce and Services); Angoalissar (best participation in Food and Beverages); Grow (Civil Construction and Public Works); França (International); Nossa Seguros (Insurance); BCI (Banking); and Fundo Garantidor de Crédito (Financial Services).

AAPA, LIS Aroma, Soneca Cazua, and EPAL were the winners in Agriculture and Fisheries; Cosmetics and Beauty; Health; and Energy and Water, respectively.

The list of winners also includes TAAG (Transportation and Logistics); Grupo Carrinho (Industry); Grandes Lakes (Machinery and Equipment); Maky Home (Real Estate and Home Decor Industry); Naval Group (National Production); Unitel (Telecommunications and Information Technology); Etu Energias (Oil and Gas); Probetão (Innovative Products); EAL (Paper Industry and Production); Cosal Group (Activation); TV Zimbo (Press Coverage); and Daimic (Automotive).

The 40th edition of FILDA took place from July 22nd to 27th in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) in Icolo and Bengo.

The six-day event was marked by lectures, product and service launches, and visits from distinguished figures, such as the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço; the Vice President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa; the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano; and the Vice President of the MPLA, Mara Quiosa, among others.

Approximately 100,000 visitors attended this event, which allowed national and international exhibitors to showcase their products and services.

In the view of participating entrepreneurs and visitors, the current edition exceeded expectations regarding product innovations, technology, creativity, and innovation, generating curiosity among visitors of all ages, entrepreneurs, and investors interested in new technological solutions, business opportunities, and partnerships, writes Angop.

More than 2190 exhibitors participated in FILDA 2025, which had an expected revenue of approximately four billion kwanzas.

In terms of participation, national companies represented 87 percent, with emphasis on the trade and distribution sector (11 percent), followed by the food and beverage industry (nine percent), the extractive industry (eight percent), agriculture, fishing and livestock (seven percent), software and technologies (seven percent), construction and public works (seven percent), services (six percent), oil and gas (five percent) and agribusiness (three percent), says Angop.
