Hélder Pitta Grós mentioned, in a note of condolence, that Joana Marques Vidal, who died on Tuesday, in Portugal, victim of illness, dedicated her life to the career of the Public Prosecutor's Office and was a natural speaker.
The news of her death "invaded all the magistrates of the Angolan Public Ministry with sadness", the note highlights, noting that the Portuguese magistrate indelibly marked the relations of exchange, cooperation and training between similar prosecutors' offices.
A distinguished jurist and magistrate par excellence, said the PGR, Joana Marques Vidal "lent us her knowledge and experiences" and was also a friend of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Angola and its magistrates.
"We remember with gratitude, your contribution to strengthening the historical ties between our institutions of Justice", concluded Pitta Grós, sending deep feelings of condolence to the family and the Portuguese judiciary.
The former attorney general of the Portuguese Republic Joana Marques Vidal died on Tuesday, aged 68, at Hospital de São João, in Porto, after having been hospitalized in a coma for several weeks.
Joana Marques Vidal was the first woman to lead the Attorney General's Office of the Portuguese Republic, between 2012 and 2018, being succeeded in the position by Lucília Gago, the current PGR.
