President of Madagascar in Angola for state visit

Andry Rajoelina, President of Madagascar, arrives in Angola this Wednesday, the day from which he will make a state visit to the country.

:

According to Angop, the visit will last three days and aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

It should be recalled that last month, at a ministerial meeting held in the capital of Madagascar, Angola and Madagascar exchanged notes to establish diplomatic relations, having announced that they would soon sign the "general framework agreement on cooperation".

In addition, according to the joint statement of the meeting, cited by Angop, the two countries also agreed to sign a "memorandum of understanding on political consultations", as well as the agreement to "eliminate visas on diplomatic and service passports".

It is also stated that high-level official visits will be made, as well as ambassadors will be accredited.

It should be noted that the two countries are interested in collaborating in various areas, especially in sectors such as agriculture, education, mineral resources, tourism and fisheries, writes Angop.

The intention to strengthen bilateral relations had also been mentioned by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço. It was in December last year, on the occasion of the act of taking possession of the President of Madagascar (whose re-election guaranteed him a third term) that the two presidents discussed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
