The meeting, led by the ambassador of Portugal, Francisco Alegre Duarte, and ambassador Domingos Silva Coelho, director of Legal Affairs, Treaties and Litigation of the ministry, served to address "issues related to the signing of new legal instruments that aim to consolidate and expand the ties between Angola and Portugal", as part of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The meeting takes place on the eve of Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro's visit to Angola, which begins on Tuesday and ends on Thursday.
"In recent years, Angola and Portugal have concluded, in addition to traditional areas, more than 60 legal instruments, especially in the areas of education, health, justice, defense and internal administration, tourism, public administration, digital transition and blue economy", says the ministry.
Angola and Portugal established political-diplomatic relations in March 1976 and signed the first legal instrument called General Bilateral Cooperation Agreement, on June 26, 1978.
Angola proclaimed independence from Portugal on November 11, 1975.
