This is one of the points of the statement released after the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Commission of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), on Tuesday, in which the country's political, economic, social and diplomatic situation was assessed. in general and the internal life of the party.
UNITA also claims to have been informed by the coordinator of the Jonas Malheiro Savimbi Foundation, Isaías Samakuva, about the process of its legalization, stressing that this was always "a desire of the party".
Last week, the leader of UNITA, Adalberto Costa Júnior, was skeptical about the decision to legalize the foundation, which was presented at a press conference by his predecessor, Isaías Samakuva, due to fears of instrumentalization.
The foundation's general coordinator and former president of UNITA Isaías Samakuva states that the institution has only philanthropic purposes and does not serve political objectives.
In the same statement, UNITA expressed solidarity with the statement on the country's real situation, presented by Adalberto Costa Júnior, on behalf of the United Patriotic Front (FPU), a platform that also brings together the Democratic Bloc and the political project PRA-JA Servir Angola, last Wednesday.
The statement was shared the following day with some entities, but the FPU leaders were stopped by elements of the Security Unit of the Presidency of the Republic, next to the Supreme Court, and prevented from accessing Largo 1.º de Maio by the national police, acts which UNITA condemns.
The party also reaffirmed the need to give priority to the implementation of local authorities and instructed the parliamentary group "to do everything possible to conclude and approve" the law on the effective institutionalization of local authorities.
The Standing Committee of the Political Commission also condemned "any act of political violence" and urged the Angolan forces "to adopt a tolerant stance towards different ideas and proposals".
