"The National Consumer Price Index registered a variation of 1.41 percent from May to June 2023. Comparing the monthly variations (May to June 2023) there is an acceleration of 0.46 percentage points, while, in year-on-year terms (June 2022 to June 2023), there is an acceleration in the current variation of 0.57 percentage points", reads the document, which VerAngola had access to.
In year-on-year terms, INE adds, the variation was 11.25 percent, "recording a decrease of 11.71 percentage points compared to that observed in the same period of the previous year (June 2022)".
"Comparing the current year-on-year change with that recorded in the previous month, there is an acceleration of 0.63 percentage points", adds the document.
The data also indicate that Luanda leads the list of provinces with the greatest variation in prices, with 1.69 percent. The podium is also made up of Lunda Norte (1.50 percent) and Namibe (1.35 percent).
On the other hand, the provinces with the smallest change in prices were Cabinda (0.90 percent), Lunda Sul (0.92 percent) and Moxico (0.94 percent).
In terms of categories, "the 'Transport' class was the one that registered the biggest increase in prices, with a variation of 2.71 percent", reveals the index. Here also "price increases verified in the classes: 'Health' with 2.08 percent, 'Clothing and Footwear' with 1.53 percent and 'Food and non-alcoholic beverages' with 1.46 percent".
The data indicate that the 'Food and non-alcoholic beverages' class "was the one that most contributed to the increase in the general price level with 0.85 percentage points during the month of June", followed by the "'Transport' classes with 0.15 percentage points, 'Miscellaneous goods and services' with 0.12 percentage points and 'Health' with 0.08 percentage points", while the remaining classes "had contributions of less than 0.08 percentage points".
