Of the total amount recovered by the National Asset Recovery Service (SENRA), approximately 7 billion dollars was recovered in the country, while around 12 billion dollars was seized abroad.
"SENRA has already recovered more than 7 billion dollars", said Eduarda Rodrigues, who, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), added: "SENRA, in four years, has also seized more than 12 billion dollars of dollars abroad".
Speaking within the framework of the opening of a workshop on the recovery of assets for several prosecutors in the country, the official said all those involved in this process must be "united and speaking the same language".
"We all have to be united and speak the same language, so it is essential that they all have the same preparation so that together we can try to recover as many assets as possible. But we are aware that there are provinces where we have more actual crimes and, therefore, more goods to recover than others (...). Like for example the province of Benguela, Huíla, Cuando Cubango, without a doubt Luanda in the first place", she said, quoted by RNA.
In turn, the European Union ambassador to Angola, Jeannette Seppen, highlighted the country's advances in the fight against corruption and money laundering. "Angola went from 163rd place in 2015, seven years later it improved to almost 47th, we can also say with satisfaction that part of these achievements were also a result of these recovery programs and the partnership that Angola established with our European Union", said the ambassador, cited by RNA.
