The province of Huambo has, as of this Wednesday, a new bus terminal. The Interprovincial Urban Passenger Bus Terminal (TRIPUP) “Miguel Soma Kessenje, which results from an investment of more than three million dollars, will have the capacity to handle four thousand passengers daily.

According to a statement from the Provincial Government of Huambo, to which VerAngola had access, the terminal was inaugurated this Wednesday by the Secretary of State for Land Transport, Jorge Bengue Calumbo, on behalf of the Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu.

Located in the Santa Iria district, adjacent to the CFB bus station in Huambo, the infrastructure was built from scratch and is the result of an investment of around 3,255,509.89 dollars.

The statement also mentions that the project is divided into four sectors: services, operations, public and commercial use.

"Deploying in an area of ​​6673 square meters, with a covered area of ​​1204 square meters, the TRIPUP "Miguel SomaKessenje" has a total of six bays, four for embarkation, two for disembarkation, two waiting bays, two five ticket offices, a waiting area with 105 seats and an executive room", the note adds.

In addition, the terminal also includes a police station, support area for drivers and vehicle maintenance, first-aid service and postal services.

"An area for bank branches and an internal trade area (convenience stores) is also contemplated", the statement said.

On the occasion, Jorge Bengue considered that this terminal will provide greater comfort and safety to people, adding that it "may generate 27 jobs directly and 68 indirectly, with a guarantee of transport, on average daily, of 4000 passengers" .

In turn, Lotti Nolika, governor of Huambo, who was also present at the act, indicated that the infrastructure "will significantly strengthen the road management system at the level of the province of Huambo and surrounding provinces".

She also asked people to preserve the terminal so that it can "sustainably enjoy its benefits".
