João Lourenço's adviser was speaking to Lusa on the day the death of the former President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, was announced, who invited Isaac dos Anjos to the Ministry of Culture at just 27 years old.
"I was practically adopted by the former President of the Republic, when he accepted my appointment to the Ministry of Culture at just over 27 years old, from Benguela, and since then I have had the privilege of sharing various positions and functions [in governments]", added the ruler.
Highlighting the "30 years of coexistence" with José Eduardo dos Santos, Isaac dos Anjos stressed that "it is not easy to accept the departure of a loved one and in this difficult time what we can assure the family is that we join in solidarity in the pain and in the grief that pierces our soul" and added: "José Eduardo dos Santos is no longer just a member of a small family, he is a member of an entire nation, a family that is the homeland and the nation, to whom he has dedicated several years of struggle incessant".
The politician considers that his generation "owes a lot" to José Eduardo dos Santos, but he is certain that "we will continue to carry the torch of Angola, and with it we learn to be balanced in the highest interest that is that of peace , of humanism, of solidarity and even though he seemed a fragile person, he was a person with a lot of authority and even from afar, with a simple look, he imposed authority on us", he concluded.
