The protocol, which was signed this Wednesday by the vice-rector of the UC for External Relations and Alumni, João Nuno Calvão da Silva, and by the dean of UNIMBE, Carmen Van-Dúnem Santos, intends to "broaden the strong cooperation ties of the University of Coimbra with Portuguese-speaking higher education institutions", says the UC in a press note sent to the Lusa agency.
This agreement includes the "exchange of students, professors and technicians, joint participation in seminars, colloquiums, conferences, congresses and other academic events, the creation and implementation of joint undergraduate and graduate courses, and the development of projects of scientific and applied research", says the UC.
"In the wake of other important partnerships established in recent years, such as the one that allowed senior Angolan magistrates to receive training at the UC, the agreement signed today with UNINBE strengthens the centenary link between the University of Coimbra and Angola", he says, quoted in the statement Vice-Rector João Nuno Calvão da Silva.
"This is another step towards reinforcing the centrality of the University of Coimbra in the world and, in particular, in the Portuguese language space", he maintained.
The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement was also attended by the Governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, the Ambassador of Angola, Carlos Fonseca, and the president of the Portugal-Angola Parliamentary Friendship Group, António Maló de Abreu.
