Adalberto Costa Júnior available for dialogue with João Lourenço about the country's problems

Adalberto Costa Júnior, president of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), says he is available to meet and talk with João Lourenço about the country's problems.


Aiming at improving the relations between the political forces of Angola, Adalberto Costa Júnior revealed that he requested an audience with the Head of State, in April, with the purpose of discussing the country's problems, but so far the meeting has not materialized.

In statements to VOA, the UNITA leader stressed that "he had no difficulty in writing a letter to the President of the Republic requesting an audience, in order to show the country" that from UNITA's part "there is no problem".

"Unfortunately we are still waiting for an answer", he added.

Adalberto Costa Júnior admitted that "in advanced democracies, political adversaries are not necessarily enemies", and that in this type of democracies "balances must exist".

He also emphasized that he is available for dialogue with João Lourenço at any time and said he believes that there is still time to rectify what he believes to be wrong, however, he indicated that this is dependent on the acceptance by the Head of State, to hold a meeting between the two.
