Sonangol cancels gasoline supply contract with Vitol company

The state-owned oil company Sonangol announced Friday that it has cancelled the contract for gasoline supplies signed last month with Vitol, adding that it is choosing the British group BP instead of the Dutch multinational.

:

Sonangol, which did not explain the reasons for the decision, limited itself to informing in a statement that after the award, it found "the occurrence of circumstances that made it impossible to validate the proposal and conclude the contract" that had been awarded on June 24, 2021.

"In view of the facts, the contracting entity was impelled to communicate the cancellation of the award made to the Vitol company, and immediately re-evaluate the second and third best proposals, presented for the supply of gasoline," which led to the choice of British Petroleum (BP), for a period of one year.

Both BP and Vitol participated in a Limited Invitation to Tender, held on March 31st 2021, for the supply of petroleum products, for a period of 12 months, to meet the needs of the domestic market.
