According to the spokesman for the Luanda provincial command of the National Police, Nestor Goubel, it was an incident, which occurred around 2:00 am, which involved a young man, who was in a group of people allegedly without respecting the prevention measures against covid-19, imposed by the authorities.

"It was a work incident, the colleague was in his practice and within the scope of the inspection of defaults, a group of young people, at Prenda, protested against the police and in an attempt to remove them, the colleague accidentally fired, killing one of them ", explained Nestor Goubel.

The official also said that the group was consuming alcoholic beverages, so they were asked to leave the place.

Nestor Goubel said that, in reaction, some young people wanted to destroy the mobile police station on the spot, having set up tire barricades with fire on the road, and therefore it was necessary to reinforce the police to contain the spirits.

"The reaction intensified in the early hours of today, some people took advantage of the moment and created barricades, and wanted to rise up against the troops that were in the mobile squad to cause damage," he said.

According to the spokesman for the Luanda provincial police command, the personnel involved in the case are already in detention.

The police are also talking to the victim's relatives and are dealing with the police for the funeral procedures, further indicated Nestor Goubel, stressing that the situation is already under control.

Within the scope of the new rules for preventing and combating covid-19, the use of a face mask on public roads is mandatory, with the penalty of paying fines between 5,000 and 10,000 kwanzas for anyone who disrespects the measure.
