“I took this information very well. She is a great lady,” said Sissoco Embaló, speaking to journalists at Bissau airport, on his return to the country after trips to Latvia, France, Hong Kong, Macau and Malaysia.
The Guinean President said that if Angola nominates Fátima Jardim, “Guinea-Bissau will not oppose it,” because she is “a lady with experience” and is his “long-time friend.”
Umaro Sissoco Embaló said he had spoken to Fátima Jardim by telephone on Tuesday.
“I called her myself. She is a long-time friend,” he said, stressing that he believes that the new head of state “will make a difference” in the management of the CPLP executive secretariat.
A former minister in several Angolan governments, Maria de Fátima Jardim, who graduated in biology in Portugal, is expected to be confirmed in the position at the summit of the Portuguese-speaking organization to be held in July in Bissau.
