According to a statement from CIPRA, which VerAngola had access to, the meeting also addressed issues related to the fight against terrorism and conflicts.
"The meeting, held at the Presidential Palace in Luanda, also addressed issues related to the fight against terrorism, conflicts in various regions and the efforts made to silence the guns on the continent", the statement reads.
On the occasion, the AU commissioner said he had had the "opportunity to present an overview of the African situation": "On behalf of the Chairperson of the AU Commission, I had the opportunity to present an overview of the African situation, as well as African solutions to African problems", he said.
Bankole Adeoye indicated "as challenges issues of governance, development and direct engagement with citizens in the search for African solutions, working on a basis of unity".
The official also "recognised and thanked President João Lourenço for his efforts to bring peace to the continent, specifically in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, the Sahel region and Mozambique, in the Cabo Delgado area".
"The diplomat also highlighted the leadership of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in his capacity as Champion for Peace and Reconciliation of the African Union", the statement added.
The official also said that he left the meeting with the "mission of working towards finding lasting solutions to all the issues that were discussed".
"We will continue to work together and we will also continue to salute the leadership and vision of President João Lourenço, who, we believe, will play a major role in silencing the guns on the continent", he said, as quoted in the statement.
