The festival kicks off this Thursday with creative workshops on the sound of Dikanza and memory as a subject of artistic creation, and performances by artists such as Jorge Mulumba, Jamil Osmar “Parasol” and others. The programme also includes a collective exhibition and live concerts with Lito Graça and Claúdio Arte Jazz.
Cinema, music, theatre, dance, stand-up comedy, visual arts, performance, creative workshops and gatherings are part of the programme of this initiative, which also marks the 16th anniversary of the Goethe-Institut's presence in Angola, reinforcing the institution's commitment to fostering cultural exchange between Germany, Angola and the Portuguese-speaking world.
The children's audience can enjoy an additional programme curated by the Contr'Ignorância Library.
“This year, in which Angola celebrates 50 years of independence, memory has been a key word in the institute’s cultural programme, and this festival will be no different. We will therefore celebrate kizomba (the real thing!), semba, muzengue from Luanda, literature and many other things that will remind us of the importance of a country’s historical memory”, highlights the Goethe-Institut in a press release.
According to the organisation, the aim is to revive Cine São Paulo as a meeting and cultural space and to highlight the talent of the country’s emerging artistic class.
