According to the final communiqué of the second extraordinary meeting of the central committee of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), guided by the party's leader, João Lourenço, the two "fundamental" documents present "the proposals for policy measures that should continue to ensure the country's sustainable socio-economic development and the improvement of the quality of life of all Angolans".

In both documents, the MPLA also reiterates "the reform of the State and good governance, the harmonious development of the territory, the promotion of human capital, with emphasis on education, health, employment, culture and sport, the reduction of social inequalities, combating to hunger and poverty".

"Gender equality, modernization and efficiency of infrastructure, intensification of economic diversification, with a predominance of the productive and private sector, and ensuring the defense of sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security", are other objectives outlined.

The central committee welcomed the fact that the MPLA's government program for the next five years, structured around seven strategic axes, and its electoral manifesto, composed of three aims, "have been preceded by an extensive work of social dialogue promoted by the party , a thorough assessment and evaluation of the 2017-2022 government activity, and the absorption of the leader's strategic motion, approved at the VIII Ordinary Congress of the MPLA, held in December 2021, in Luanda".

The communiqué underlined that the central committee urged party committees and their social organizations at all levels, as well as MPLA militants, sympathizers and friends, for a massive dissemination of the government program and the electoral manifesto, among voting citizens, during the electoral campaign and beyond, "so that everyone understands the well-founded proposals presented by the MPLA and its leader".

One of the items on Thursday's agenda was the analysis and approval of a resolution on changes to adjustments to be introduced in the list of candidates for deputies to the National Assembly, approved at the previous meeting of the MPLA central committee.

On this resolution, the communiqué only mentions that "the central committee mandated the political bureau to, through its secretariat, ensure, if necessary, and within the framework of the candidacy validation process by the Constitutional Court, all adjustments and corrections that lead to final approval of the list of candidates for MPLA deputies for the general elections, by the Constitutional Court".

From the list approved last week, he appears as head of the MPLA list and candidate for President of the Republic João Lourenço, as candidate for vice president Esperança Costa, current Secretary of State for Fisheries, and candidate for president of the National Assembly Carolina Cerqueira, current Minister of State for the Social Area.
