According to a publication on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic, João Lourenço called Ana Paula dos Santos "in a gesture of solidarity" in view of the news regarding the deterioration of the health status of the former head of state, who ruled the country for 38 years.
Information collected by Lusa from a source close to José Eduardo dos Santos indicates that the former President remains in intensive care at the Teknon Medical Center in Barcelona, Spain, being sedated and in stable condition, accompanied by some of his children.
The press advances that both Isabel dos Santos and Coreón Du have already visited their father. The businesswoman will have traveled from London, where she was, when she learned of the worsening health condition of José Eduardo dos Santos.
Tchizé dos Santos, on the other hand, "has not yet visited his father for having entered a collision course with Ana Paula dos Santos, his father's wife", writes Jornal de Negócios.
The 79-year-old former President has had health problems for several years and has been accompanied in Barcelona since 2006.
Eduardo dos Santos ruled Angola between 1979 and 2017, having been one of the longest-serving presidents in the world, being regularly accused by international organizations of corruption and nepotism. In 2017, he resigned to run again and the current President, João Lourenço, succeeded him in office.
