First stone of the Luena photovoltaic plant launched this Thursday

The act of consignment and laying of the first stone of the Luena photovoltaic solar power plant construction project will take place this Thursday and will be chaired by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Batista Borges, and by the governor of Moxico, Gonçalves Manuel Muandumba.

The Portuguese MCA (Manuel Couto Alves) is one of the companies that is part of the consortium that is developing this solar plant in the capital of Moxico province, an investment of US$38 million.

The project is in charge of the Sun Africa consortium, MCA-Vias and MCA, of the Manuel Couto Alves group, and foresees the installation of 42,560 panels with a nominal power of 25 megawatts, to improve access to electricity supply.
It will cover 11 communes in Moxico, and is expected to reach a potential population of almost 300,000 people and more than 56,000 homes, with an execution period of three years.

The executive has an ongoing program for the construction of seven photovoltaic solar plants in six provinces of the country, in a total of one million solar panels, capable of generating clean and sustainable energy of 370 megawatts and guaranteeing the regular supply to more than two million people. people residing in these areas, mainly in rural areas.

The MCA group also has the largest photovoltaic park in sub-Saharan Africa, located in Biópio, under implementation in Baía Farta, Benguela province.
