Fazenda Girassol will export 40 tons of banana and 20 tons of papaya to Portugal

Fazenda Girassol will start exporting banana and papaya to Portugal. The farm, located in Loge Grande, municipality of Nzeto, Zaire, will export 40 tons of banana and 20 tons of papaya to Portugal.

The Fazneda Girassol has 200 hectares of cultivated area with various products. Of these 200 hectares, 50 are dedicated to banana cultivation and 20 to papaya cultivation, according to João Amaral, an agronomist and managing partner of the farm, cited by Angop.

The person in charge, who was speaking on the sidelines of the visit of the new municipal administrator of Nzeto, Augusto Tiago, to that agricultural production, also revealed that the farm should soon reach "the 120 hectares of banana and 50 of papaya".

"We intend to start exporting 40 tons of bananas and 20 tons of papaya per week from August this year," he said.

João Amaral also indicated that a processing and packaging plant for the products is being set up. This factory, which is being set up on the farm, has the help of around 1000 workers, 80 percent of whom are young angolans.
