ICC-Angola is a pioneer in the assembly of household appliances in the country but already thinks about exports

Result of an investment of US $ 10 million, ICC-Angola is a pioneer in the assembly of household appliances in the country, preparing to reach the mark of 100 thousand air conditioning units per year. Exporting is the next step, but it is conditioned by the lack of raw materials in the country.

Since the end of last year, the company managed by Ahmad El Kara has assembled air conditioning units, gas stoves, televisions, refrigerators and refrigerators in the Industrial Pole of Viana. With an investment of around US $ 10 million, a factory was built - in a space of 20,000 square meters - with five production lines.

According to statements by the administrator to Jornal de Angola, in a first phase, 50 thousand televisions, 30 thousand glaciers, 30 thousand chests and 50 thousand stoves will be produced annually. The assembly of electrical appliances is carried out by 120 young Angolans who have received specialist training.

The next step in the project is now to increase production. According to Ahmad El Kara, the intention is to reach the foreign market in the short term. The Democratic Republic of Congo will be one of the first countries to explore, taking into account the ease of transportation through the Lobito Railway.

However, the biggest constraint on the internationalization of ICC-Angola is the need for raw material: "We can double the amount of production as long as we have enough raw material. We can supply the domestic market and later export the surplus", said the administrator.

The structural project for the factory started in 2017, with production starting in late 2019. The company guarantees a supply of tested appliances and "with quality equal to the imported product", foreseeing an increase in production as soon as there is a greater supply of raw materials. cousin.
