Covid-19: 48 hours without new cases, Angola receives more material ordered from China

The fight against covid-19 continues, despite the fact that the infection seems to have given the country truce in the last 48 hours. With no new record of positive cases on Monday and Tuesday, Angola's figures remain the same for the 86 confirmed cases of the disease.

The national epidemiological picture remains unchanged, with statistics showing 86 confirmed cases, of which four deaths, 18 recovered and 64 active cases. A patient still needs special medical care.

According to Franco Mufinda, Secretary of State for Public Health, 456 suspected cases are being followed up by health authorities, with 1160 citizens under investigation. 1057 people are in institutional quarantine.

Following the fight against the pandemic, the country received an additional 22 tons of bio-security and hospital resources, still part of the 380 tons of material acquired by the Government from China.

The Secretary of State for the Hospital Area, Leonardo Inocêncio, explained that the lot received this Tuesday “consists mainly of tripartite beds and hospital materials, together with various means of biosafety, such as gloves, masks, visors, among others. 35 invasive fans also arrived, a donation from Banco Negócios Internacional (BNI) ”.

The official explained, quoted by Angop, that the new ventilators will reinforce the ventilation capacity in the country, in the event that there are patients who need respiratory support.

All material will be distributed to the country's 18 provinces.
