"In line with the commitment of the Naval Group and Refitec to strengthen national production and progressively reduce imports", this Wednesday "the acquisition of crude palm oil produced in the province of Kwanza Norte was formalised", the company said in a statement sent to VerAngola.
"This acquisition, as well as the respective supply agreement signed on 20 May, represents a concrete step in Refitec's import substitution strategy, contributing directly to the development of national agriculture and to the enhancement of the internal supply chain", reads the note, which adds that "by prioritising Angolan suppliers, Refitec reinforces the vision of a more self-sufficient, productive and industrialised country".
Quoted in the statement, Hélder Caetano, Refitec's CEO, considered that this purchase represents the company's commitment to the "national agricultural market".
"The purchase of crude palm oil produced in Kwanza Norte demonstrates our firm commitment to the national agricultural market. We believe in the potential of domestic production and are firmly committed to gradually reducing our dependence on imports, promoting the creation of value within Angolan territory", he stated.
The company also states that it will continue to "invest in strategic partnerships with local producers of palm, soy and other relevant crops, with the aim of boosting the national economy, promoting job creation and guaranteeing quality raw materials for the Angolan processing industry".
It is worth remembering that Refitec, which has "an installed capacity to process 500 tons of crude oil per day", was inaugurated by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in March of this year.
