The information was given this Tuesday in Dundo (Lunda Norte) by the UNHCR representative in Angola, Emmanuelle Mitte.
Quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola, the official clarified that the closure of the offices is due to the global situation and the financial constraints that affect the institution's operations at an international level.
Emmanuelle Mitte said that UNHCR will continue to monitor refugees through its office in South Africa.
Currently, UNHCR has a main office in Luanda and a field delegation in Dundo.
Angola hosts more than 56,000 refugees, mainly from the Democratic Republic of Congo, of which 6000 live in the Lôvua settlement, in the province of Lunda Norte.
The closure of UNHCR offices in Angola is scheduled for the last quarter of this year.
