According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic to which VerAngola had access, João Lourenço participates in the meeting's work as acting president of the African Union.
This Tuesday morning's session is reserved for heads of state and prime ministers, with João Lourenço being the first speaker.
Present will be some of the most important world leaders, such as the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, of Egypt, Abdul Fatah Al Sisi and of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, who will also make speeches.
Also present at the session will be the Presidents of Cape Verde, Senegal, Tanzania, Vietnam and the Philippines. Also present are the prime ministers of Croatia, Thailand and Australia.
The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, expressed confidence in the signing of the new WHO agreement on pandemics, a document that will give countries the freedom to take measures according to their epidemiological situation, without being dependent on the WHO's general measures.
“We are very anxious, we really believe in this agreement on pandemics and we will all be there to vote,” said the head of the Health Ministry.
The minister also said that the new agreement offers a working platform within the scope of a single health - human, animal and with regard to environmental issues - seeking multisectorality, which "has to be a fact", she considered.
Lutucuta also highlighted the importance of João Lourenço's presence and his speech, recalling that all African Union countries "are very anxious" for the president's words.
