The same source reports that, with the intervention of João Lourenço with the current President of Gabon, Brice Nguema, Bongo's family was released and arrived in Luanda on Thursday night.
Brice Oligui Nguema led the coup that ousted his cousin, Ali Bongo, on 30 August 2023, the same day that the official results of that year's presidential elections were announced, which were marked by manipulation and lack of credibility, according to observers.
The President of Gabon won the presidential elections held on 12 April this year.
