Between the 28th and 29th of May, the second National Dialogue Workshop on OECMs (Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures) will take place.
The workshop will take place at the Palmeiras Hotel, in Talatona (Luanda), starting at 8:30 am.
Organized by the Lisima Foundation and The Nature Conservancy, the meeting aims to develop a national framework to identify, assess and implement conservation areas beyond the traditional ones, aligning with target 3 of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), which requires the protection of 30 percent of terrestrial and marine territories by 2030.
The program includes the presentation of the workshop objectives; presentation of preliminary results of legislative analysis; steps towards the creation of the OECMs Oversight Committee in Angola (focusing on its role, entities involved, process of identification, designation and reporting of OECMs); presentation of the OECM local assessment tool; between others.
This event is open to non-governmental organizations, academics, community leaders and representatives of the energy and agricultural sectors, and registration is open through the official channels of the organizing entities.
