TAAG and GOL sign a partnership to develop the cargo segment

After signing a codeshare agreement in April of this year to boost passenger traffic, TAAG and GOL – the leading airline in the Brazilian market – formalized a new partnership, exclusively dedicated to the cargo segment.

With the SPA (Special Prorate Agreement) signed in the meantime, TAAG now includes GOL's destinations (in Brazil and Latin America) within its cargo distribution and collection network.

GOL is a reference company with more than 200 markets served in 72 bases in Brazil and 11 abroad.

With this partnership, TAAG expands its cargo routes and reinforces its presence in Latin America, becoming more competitive and with greater geographic coverage at an international level, says the national air carrier through a statement sent to VerAngola.

"Through this agreement, TAAG seeks to increase the volume of cargo transported annually, reinforcing the company's attractiveness for attracting new customers and contracts", they add.

Depending on schedule and availability, TAAG may use the hold luggage space of commercial and cargo flights (cargo-only aircraft) operated by GOL on its domestic and regional routes.

This partnership is especially relevant with regard to the transport of cargo between Europe and Latin America via Luanda, namely for mail (documents, small loads, express mail, parcels, etc).

Currently, TAAG's cargo segment covers destinations in Africa (Angola, Mozambique, São Paulo,
Tomé, Namibia, Nigeria and Kenya), Europe (Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy) and the Americas (Brazil and Cuba), with the TAAG network also incorporating the destinations operated by GOL.

"The cargo business is essential for TAAG's competitiveness and sustainability, and is also strategic for positioning Luanda as an important hub in the region. The partnership with GOL opens up many perspectives for us to reach new destinations in Brazil and Latin America, and will benefit the development of many economies throughout the southern hemisphere", says, the CEO of TAAG, Eduardo Fairen.

Currently, TAAG has five weekly connections on commercial flights Luanda-Sao Paulo, and the sixth frequency will be added from August.
