The leader of the parliamentary group of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) said, in his political declaration, that the inclusive dialogue defended by the parliamentary group of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) is accepted "in the national interest".

"In the national interest, nothing limits us, except our freedom, the dignity of the human person and national sovereignty, in the national interest everything obliges us to dialogue, except the division of the country into 581 municipalities and the constitutional revision for a third term", mentioned Liberty Chiaka.

According to Chiaka, UNITA's agenda for dialogue is focused on the interests of the people, youth, "zungueiras" women (street vendors), workers, businessmen, teachers and students.

"Our agenda is the consolidation of the Rule of Law, true national reconciliation, political, economic and cultural democracy, an open society, a free press, an independent and credible judiciary, strengthening the supervisory role of the Assembly National", he stressed.

"Our agenda is participatory democracy, good governance, the sustainable development of Angola, our agenda is the establishment of local authorities in all 164 municipalities in the country and simultaneously in 2024", he added.

The deputy underlined that "in a democracy, the construction of a country is not the work of a political party, a leader and a generation", noting that the construction of Angola "will be the work of several governments, of different political parties, a result of the alternation democracy of power".

"The reconstruction and development of Angola will be the work of different visionary leaders, patriots committed to the well-being of the people, who, in their time, in one or two mandates, their actions, public policies and decisions have a decisive impact on the quality citizens' lives", he stressed.

"It doesn't take three or four mandates to leave useful and lasting work for the communities. Governance in a democracy is like a relay race", he pointed out.

The UNITA parliamentary group reaffirmed, "in an unequivocal and decisive way: there will be no third term for any Angolan citizen".

"There will be no third Constitutional coup. The time for governments without democratic legitimacy is over. The time for constitutional coups is over. The time for the dictatorship of the proletariat is over. The time for absolute power is over. We will discuss how to remove fears, fear, distrust and insecurity in the future of alternation", he stressed.

Liberty Chiaka defended the need to build "a society of freedom, democracy and structural guarantees for all citizens".

"Nobody should fear for their future. Angola should prepare for the first alternation and peaceful, orderly, positive and inclusive transition of political power", he reinforced.

The deputy stressed that the National Assembly must once again have administrative and financial autonomy and the entire organization and its functioning must be geared towards serving the citizens, overseeing the executive's action and approving fair laws for the good of the citizens.

"The National Assembly must have the political courage to set up parliamentary commissions of inquiry (CPI) into the activities of direct, indirect, independent administration and autonomous funds that manage public resources", said Chiaka, advocating an urgent CPI on public debt and contracting processes public, with a focus on direct adjudication and violations of human rights.
