President inaugurates water supply system in Malanje

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, inaugurated, this Friday, the Cuije Water Supply System, which aims to reinforce the water supply to Malanje.

According to a brief note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, the inauguration took place mid-morning on Friday.

"In the first act of the work program established for the working visit to Malanje, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, inaugurated the Cuije Water Supply System, built with the purpose of to reinforce the supply of liquid to the city of Malanje", reads the note.

After cutting the ribbon, "the technical device was activated which marked the beginning of the infrastructure's operation", adds the note.

Still on the occasion, the head of state toured "at length the different areas" that make up the infrastructure, having received explanations about the operation.

Located in Quissol, this system is capable of producing 720 cubic meters of water per hour. According to Angop, reservoirs, pipelines, administrative areas, among others, make up this undertaking, which is valued at 31,237,861 dollars, whose financing results from a credit line from China.

On the occasion, João Lourenço took the opportunity to highlight the advantages of the supply system now inaugurated for citizens. "The improvement of water supply is a right that belongs to the populations, because treated water is health, it is life. There will be less diarrheal diseases, therefore, we are going to save lives", considered the head of state, quoted by Angop.

In addition, the President also reiterated that the completion of the works on the Caculo-Cabaça hydroelectric dam, in Cuanza Norte, could happen in 2026, writes Angop.

It is recalled that João Lourenço traveled, this Friday, to the province of Malanje, with a scheduled agenda, in addition to the inauguration of the water supply system, for a visit to the Hydroelectric Power Plant of Laúca, marking the end of the works.
