According to a note from the provincial government, which VerAngola had access to, Isabel da Cruz, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Angola and Belgium, was received in audience, this Tuesday, by the governor of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, with whom he approached the financing possibilities.

The meeting, adds the note, served to "present the chamber's projects for improving the business environment, with lines of financing that will boost the business class in the province".

On the occasion, José Martins expressed satisfaction with the intention of the chamber to choose the province as a beneficiary of "these important lines of financing that will boost the business sector at all levels, with the leverage of business and the increase in the employability of local populations".

The governor also expressed "the institutional support of the provincial government in the implementation of projects conceived by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Angola and Belgium", adds the note.

The referred bet, according to Angop, includes the rehabilitation of roads, boosting agriculture, installation of a factory to bottle mineral water, among others.

The amount (about 500 million euros) is already available for financing, therefore it is expected from the local government, less bureaucracy in order for the first activities to start within the next four to five months, which also include the fields of education and health with the building of schools and health units, writes Angop.

Guarantees were left that they had already found "financing in Belgium and Spain" for the agribusiness, forestry and road rehabilitation sectors. "We have already found funding in Belgium and Spain for the areas of agribusiness, forestry and road rehabilitation, all for improving the business environment and fostering employability", said the official, who spoke at the end of the meeting.

The official considered that businessmen from those two European countries are interested in investing in the province. However, the biggest concern has to do with the lack of access roads to its interior, complicating the movement and transport of various equipment for the success of the projects.

According to Isabel da Cruz, the scarcity in the production and distribution of water, as well as in the supply of electricity, has blocked greater investments, given the expenses incurred to meet these needs at the site where the various works are carried out.

The Belgians and Spaniards, according to Angop, also have their eyes set on the production and processing of coffee, fruit and respective packaging for export.

According to Angop, bank financing lines, notably Standard Bank and Ecobank, are available for various projects.

The mayor also made it known that, although there is still no investment limit for the province, the institution will work over two days with its counterpart in Cuando Cubango and with the Cabinet for Integrated Development, with a view to determining the true priorities for the region, writes Angop.
