More than 45 kilograms of cocaine from Brazil seized in Luanda

The authorities seized, in the port of Luanda, 45.64 kilograms of cocaine, distributed in 34 packages hidden in the cooling fans of three cold containers, coming from Brazil, the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) reported this Friday.

According to a note from SIC, to which the Lusa agency had access, seven Angolan citizens were arrested, of which four assigned to the port terminal of DP World Luanda, namely the terminal's security director, a refrigeration technician, a checker, an operator of machines and three intermediaries of the alleged owner of the drug.

In possession of the accused were found 34 packages of rectangular shape, covered with adhesive tape, distributed among three containers with frozen chicken, coming from Brazil.

"It should be noted that this action is the result of a thorough criminal investigation that made it possible to follow the trail of the containers and seize the drugs", underlines the note.

At the beginning of this month, the authorities also disclosed the seizure of cocaine-type drugs destined for South Africa at Luanda's international airport from Brazil and the arrest of five people, including a foreigner.
